Rainbow Day!

Every month Avery's preschool class has a color day where they wear something with that color and a coordinating show and tell item.  Today was rainbow day.  When I first looked at the newsletter I thought it would be hard to come up with something rainbow to wear and take for show and tell.  But a quick look in the closet revealed a Care Bear rainbow t-shirt and a spool of rainbow ribbon that Grace randomly wanted way back in the Kirksville days. Ha!  So we were set on the outfit, but we still needed something to show.  I think I found this idea on Pinterest.  Fruit Loops, paper and glue.  It doesn't get any easier than that, and it turned out cute!
Jude helped by eating Fruit Loops and watching his sisters.  He found one broken in half and decided it looked like a phone.  I wasn't really paying attention to what he was doing until I heard him say "Hello? Hello?  Yes, I busy."  He had the little piece of cereal held up like a phone on his cheek.  We got a pretty good laugh out of that one.  He is SO stinking cute!

There was no way Grace was going to sit by and let Avery have all the crafting fun.  She wanted to make one too, and of course had to turn it into a race.  "I'm going to get done before you Avery.  Look I'm almost done with this color."  Aaah!!!  Siblings-  they can be your best friends and your worst rivals all at the same time.

I was really impressed with how well Avery did on this project.  I've really slacked in the fun, kids crafting department for the past couple of years.  When Grace was younger we made all kinds of stuff.  She was always painting and coloring.  But with Avery and Jude being young together, and Avery being quite a wide toddler,  I just didn't do much since it always turned crazy.  I almost didn't do this one because I didn't want to deal with a chaotic mess, but she really surprised me.  I only had to help with the glue a couple of times and she did the rest by herself.  It made me realize that life isn't quite as nutty as it use to be and we can actually do fun stuff again.

Jude was pretending to be a dog and wanted Grace to feed him Fruit Loops.  He has been so imaginative lately.  He's a different animal everyday.  Whenever he goes down the stairs he says he's a bunny and hops all the way down.  I love the little person he's turning into, he's awesome.

After a while Jude noticed that the girls were actually doing something and not just eating cereal.  He said "Where my paper?  I want paper."  Luckily Grace let him help her even though she was in a "race."  When she wants to be, she is the best big sister.  It helps that she thinks Jude is really cute, and always wants to help him.  I'm sure her and Avery will come around when they're older.  That's usually how it works. ;)

Happy Rainbow Day!!!
